COACH TAYLOR'S COMMENTS

"Tonight, I believe we found our defensive identity. In a game where we were pressured a lot, our defense did a remarkable job. They [UAlbany] were winning most of the draw controls and that puts a great deal of pressure on our team defensively. However we grew up today and began to pressure out further in our defensive end. Offensively, we are still trying to develop our rhythm and synergy which we will continue to work on. We will go back to work this week and look forward to the beginning of Patriot League play next week."

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Great Danes scored six straight goals, depositing the last two of the first quarter and the first four of the second stanza to open an 8-3 lead. Kait Henning stopped the run with an unassisted tally with 6:54 left in the half, but Albany scored the last two for a 10-4 edge at the break.

Colgate opened the game with the first two goals. Kara Lucey netted her fifth goal of the season on an assist from Lauren Thompson just 51 seconds into the contest. Henning added an unassisted marker at the 9:03 mark prior to two Great Dane goals. Henning scored again with 6:24 left in the period before Albany's 6-0 run.

The Great Danes upped the advantage to 11-4 to start the third quarter. Josie Cavallo netted her first goal of the season to pull the Raiders within six goals before Albany answered with a pair. Lucy Licata stopped the mini-run with an assist by Caroline Panzirer and the teams traded goals the remainder of the game with Gracie DeSimone ending the Raiders' scoring on an assist by Mia Hartung.

Henning was the only Raider to score multiple goals in the game with her hat trick. Lauren Solis had seven saves in the Colgate net. Kendall Belanger snared four draw controls for Colgate.
