Women's Lacrosse Wins Fifth Straight

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - With less than 30 seconds remaining in the game, Colgate's defense stood tall under pressure and prevented any high quality chances for Lehigh. The Raiders secured an 11-10 win over the Mountain Hawks at Frank Banko Field in Bethlehem, Pa. on Saturday.

COACH GUIDO'S COMMENTS

"Defense was a huge piece of today's win. Nelle Kniffin was a massive piece of our win today. On the draw, in the clear, and on the defense end. She led everywhere."

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Mountain Hawks jumped out to an early 3-0 lead inside the first five minutes.
  • Aubrey McMahon fired a shot into the top right to get the Raiders on the board and sparked a 3-1 run for Colgate that brought the deficit to just one. McMahon scored her second and Lucy Licata finished a feed from Caroline Panzirer on the run.
  • Licata scored her second of the game off a pass from Ella Bishara to tie the game at four after one quarter of play.
  • Panzirer scored early in the second frame to give the Raiders the lead but Lehigh answered and tied the game at five.
  • Lehigh finished the first half with another goal and held a one-goal lead over Colgate at the halftime break.
  • Bishara drove inside and scored on the Raiders first possession of the second half to tie the game at six but the Mountain Hawks regained their lead shortly after.
  • Kait Henning shook her defender with crafty footwork and ripped it home to tie the game.
  • McMahon completed her hat trick 22 seconds after Henning's goal to give Colgate an 8-7 lead.
  • Lehigh tied the game at eight and the score remained knotted up headed to the final quarter.
  • The Mountain Hawks took a 9-8 lead early in the fourth but Colgate answered with two quick goals.
  • Lucy Lederman drove inside and used a backhand flick into the back of the net to tie the game at nine before Lauren Kirk fired the Raiders in front 10-9.
  • Licata completed her hat trick to give Colgate a two-goal advantage with seven minutes to go.

GAME NOTES

  • Both teams were extremely resilient in this game as there were five lead changes and six ties.
  • Ella Bishara continues her streak of scoring in every game for the Raiders this season and brought her season total to 30. 
  • The Raiders officially have clinched a spot in the 2025 Patriot League Championships with one game remaining in the regular season.
  • Lauren Kirk netted her first goal of her career.
  • Aubrey McMahon scored her sixth hat trick of the season. McMahon is the team's second highest goalscorer with 31 goals this season.
  • Elizabeth Joffrey picked up two ground balls and caused one turnover in the game.
  • Colgate secures first winning season since 2018 with win today
