BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Colgate outshot Lehigh 9-7, but a first-half goal from the Mountain Hawks gave them a 1-0 victory Wednesday evening in Patriot League action.

The home team scored the game's lone goal in the 31st minute. Aminah Baruwa played a through ball to Carly Keene, who maneuvered around Alli Popham and slotted a shot into the back of the net.

The Raiders outshot Lehigh 4-2 in the first half and controlled possession for much of the 45 minutes.

Ana Schremp had a chance early on when she fired one from the corner of the box that went over the crossbar. Sophie Wand and Jocelyn Rowe also had attempts fall just wide of the net.

In the 50th minute, Ari Bezanson recorded Colgate's first shot on goal when she received a pass and took a few dribbles before ripping one from outside the box that landed right in the gloves of Lehigh's goalie. Seven minutes later, Ally Giovino released one from distance, but she couldn't get enough on it to challenge the keeper.

The Raiders earned a pair of corners in a two and a half minute span, but nothing came of them despite a second-chance effort on a cross into the box that got punched away following the first corner in the 61st minute.

Colgate drew a free kick in the 72nd minute from outside the top left corner of the box. Ellie Stokes rocketed one off the set piece that went just slightly over the crossbar.

The Mountain Hawks had a chance to double their lead in the 81st minute when they had a breakaway chance, but a beautiful diving save from Popham denied them. The junior finished with three stops in goal.

Head Coach Lyndse Hokanson

"Really dejecting to come away from the game with a loss. I thought in the second half, in particular, we had a lot of the ball and ultimately should have been able to find ourselves a point at minimum. Unfortunately, we weren't able to create dangerous enough chances with all of the possession that we had, so we allowed the game to come down to one moment in the end, and Lehigh took that chance. Still a lot to play for ahead of us, but we're going to have to find a way to come away with points on the road. I am sure the response to this hurt will be positive as we turn around and come back this way again on Saturday to face a hungry and competitive Lafayette team."
