Shelton Rakes in Rookie of the Week Honors
BETHLEHEM, Pa. — First-year outfielder Kiley Shelton was voted Patriot League Rookie of the Week for her performance at the Spring Games this past weekend, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon. It is the first weekly award of her career after most recently receiving an honorable mention for the week of Feb. 27.
The first-year phenom continues the hot start to her collegiate career after racking up six hits in six games for Colgate, who went 3-3 in Madeira Beach with wins against Manhattan, Sacred Heart, and Stonehill. Shelton also added two multi-hit games across the three days of action to go along with five RBIs and three runs.
Shelton's best outing came in the Raiders' 8-0 victory against Manhattan, where the first year went three-for-four with two runs and an RBI single. It was the first three-hit performance of the season for Shelton and her team-leading seventh game with two or more hits.
Shelton and the rest of the Raiders are back in action on Tuesday night with a doubleheader in Tampa, Fla. against USF.
