Swim & Dive Caps BU Winter Open
BOSTON – The Colgate men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed their final tune-up before Patriot League Championships with the final day of the Boston University Winter Open on Saturday afternoon at FitRec Competition Pool.
Olivia Schlegel paced Saturday's morning session with a second-place finish in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:40.17. In the 1650-yard freestyle, Katie Senglaub (17:59.14), Nicole Ben-David (18:13.09), and Alexis Burton (18:13.09) finished second, third, and fourth, respectively.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Adrienne Hagins touched the wall in 57.60, good for a ninth-place finish. Danielle McNerney completed the morning session with a 10th place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, clocking in at 1:56.64.
Colgate's 200-yard medley relay team of Anna Schwartz, Schlegel, Hagins, and Mae Causey took home a sixth-place time of 1:49.87.
On the men's side, Jack Casavant placed ninth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 52.42. Alex Rose captured a top 10 finish in the 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 1:44.81 to place 10th. Luke Morneault earned a 14th-place time of 1:49.98 in the same event.
In the evening session, Schwartz and Schlegel finished back-to-back in eighth and ninth in the 200-yard backstroke with respective times of 2:09.66 and 2:09.68. Hagins captured another top-10 finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a sixth-place time of 2:08.40, followed by Emma Senglaub (2:09.95) in ninth.
Colgate's 400-yard medley relay women's team of Schwartz, Schlegel, E. Senglaub, and Ben-David placed third out of five squads in the race with a time of 4:07.56.
The men's 200-yard freestyle quartet of Morneault, Emmet Santry, Kerry Cassidy, and Alex Rose took fourth place out of six teams competing after clocking a finals time of 1:27.82.
