Raiders Finish Strong at Patriot Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Lucy Art earned a podium finish to highlight the final day of competition for the Colgate swimming and diving teams at the Patriot League Championships held inside Navy's Lejeune Hall on Saturday.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Lucy Art earned a podium finish to highlight the final day of competition for the Colgate swimming and diving teams at the Patriot League Championships held inside Navy's Lejeune Hall on Saturday. 

Art captured a third-place finish in the 100 Free, taking home bronze with a time of 50.45 to become the program's first podium finisher since 2014. 

The women's team finished seventh with 521 points and the men's team wrapped up ninth place with 296 points.

WOMEN

Art's third-place time finished just over two tenths of a second behind Army's Clara Williams and collected a team-high 27 points for Colgate's top finish of the day. 

MG King qualified for the A Final in the 200 Back and came away with a seventh-place time of 1:59.12, a first-year record and just over a tenth of a second behind the sixth-place swimmer from Lehigh. Brooke Garretson took the B Final top spot in the same event with a time of 2:01.56. 

Natalie Hofer claimed 16th place in the 200 Breast, eighth in the B Final, after touching the wall in 2:26.32 to secure 11 points for the Raiders. Audrey Collins also claimed 11 points with a 16th-place time of 2:05.39 in the 200 Fly, nearly a second faster than her prelim time. 

Colgate's quartet of Garretson, Elizabeth Rainey, Jordan Hurt, and Art secured a fourth-place finish in the 400 Free Relay, combining for a 3:23.27 clip. 

MEN

JD Suarez was Colgate's top scorer on the day, bringing home a 12th-place finish in the 200 Back with a time of 1:48.75, good for fourth place in the B Final. Jack Schurtz-Ford, another first-year, claimed 14 points in the 100 Free with a program- and first-year record time of 44.85. 

Scott Pejic won the C Final in the 200 Fly with a 17th-place time of 1:50.63, edging his teammate Matthew Freund who took 19th place in 1:51.60. 

Peyton Wray paced Colgate to the line in the 1650 Free, finishing in 18th place with a time of 16:11.27.
