Women’s Tennis Falls to Army
Box Score WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Raiders fell to Army on the road Saturday by a score of 4-0. Colgate picked up one set on the day courtesy of junior Amelia Galin at line one.
"Army start to finish proved why year in and year out they are an elite program that have won countless championships" said head coach Bobby Pennington. "The top three programs in our conference with Army, Navy and Boston are absolutely loaded. Credit to Galin for pushing their legit one to three sets. We look to get back on track with Hofstra tomorrow and the toughest part of our schedule behind us."
Action started with doubles, where Army was able to take courts one and three. Galin and sophomore Sophia Montero both fell 6-2 at line one.
Army was able to continue the doubles momentum, taking all six of the first singles sets. Galin was able to take back some momentum, as she won the second set 6-2 before the match was clinched. First-year Anya Kunar was also down 4-6, 3-3 before play stopped. The Black Knights were able to take lines four, five and six to win the match, 4-0.
The Raiders return to action on Sunday where they will take on Hofstra at 11 a.m. at West Point.
