Raiders Sweep Holy Cross
Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. — Colgate women's tennis improved to 8-6 overall with a sweep over Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon. The Raiders won the doubles point handily and proceeded to sweep all twelve singles sets.
"The women from start to finish dominated and took care of business, sweeping the singles and the doubles," said Head Coach Bobby Pennington. "Total team win top to bottom. It takes us to 8-6 and gives us a big league win. It was huge to play outside and prep for three big matches in Miami."
The Raiders swept doubles action, with sophomore Sophia Montero and junior Amelia Galin winning line one 6-2. Senior captain Addie Eklund and first-year Rebecca Hess clinched the point with a 6-2 win at line three, followed shortly by senior captain Eliza Podlas and sophomore Carina Cristobal completing the doubles sweep with a 6-3 triumph.
Montero began singles action with a quick 6-0, 6-1 victory at line two. Eklund added to the lead with a 6-0, 6-1 win at line four, followed shortly by Galin clinching the match with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at line one. Cristobal added on to the lead with a 6-0, 6-4 win at line three. Hess dominated 6-3, 6-3, and Podlas in her return to the singles lineup won 6-3, 6-0.
