HAMILTON – Colgate (16-10, 12-2 Patriot) defended Cotterell Court successfully on Saturday afternoon, defeating Lehigh (14-11, 7-8 Patriot) in a clean sweep, 3-0.

The Raiders dominated the match as they stuffed the stat sheet as a team, where they hit at a .316 clip, generated 40 kills, and also had eight blocks in only the three sets.

Milan Bayless continued her torrid attacking form, leading the squad with 15 kills. Sydney Jones continued her strong season with 17 assists, Lal Akin led with 2.5 blocks, and Abby Shadwick had 10 digs.

COACH BAKER'S COMMENTS

"We played a clean match today. We found ways to generate kills against an always strong Lehigh block. This was a great team win and I'm excited to train again this week. This is a very enjoyable and competitive team to be around so I'm cherishing my time with them."

HOW IT HAPPENED

Set 1 | Colgate 25, Lehigh 19
The first set went back and forth with Lehigh hanging in with the Raiders, but Colgate came out strong of a media timeout up 15-12 to take over the set, winning it 25-19. Jones played a pivotal role in setting up the Raider's offense, as she contributed five assists across the first set. The Raiders actually finished with less kills than the Mountain Hawks, but only made two attack errors in the set.

Set 2 | Colgate 25, Lehigh 18
The Raiders faced more adversity in the second set, falling behind 9-11, but a flurry of kills by Bayless wrestled momentum back, as they would win the set 25-18. Lehigh mounted a brief rally, but kills by Shadwick and Akin sealed the second set for the Raiders, putting them in firm control of the match.

Set 3 | Colgate 25, Army 16
The Raiders finished the match off strong, winning the third and final set 25-16. The squad never trailed for the entire set, where they jumped out to a commanding 13-6 lead. First year Téa Bosanac put away the final kill to take the set and the match for Colgate, extending their sweep streak to four straight matches.

UP NEXT
Volleyball returns to action next weekend, where they will play Bucknell on Saturday for their final Patriot league regular season match. If the Raiders are victorious, they will secure home court advantage for the Patriot League tournament.
