Tim Tebow, the two-time national champion, Heisman Trophy winner, first-round NFL draft pick, and former professional baseball player, hosted a Q&A with student-athletes in Cotterell Court on SundayFeb 18. His inspirational advice concerned subjects such as his NFL career, his humanitarian work, and his lifestyle.

Tebow's talk was introduced by Zach Osborne '26, a Colgate University Football quarterback for the Colgate Raiders football team and co-president of Colgate Christian Athletes. He introduced Tebow's humanitarian work with the Tim Tebow Foundation, which extends aid to 86 countries.

"So many of you [students] are at an age where you're trying to figure out the next steps in life," said Tebow. "I would encourage and challenge you to find your purpose. If you spend so much of your time and energy on trying to win the most valuable player, I have a new MVP for you: the most vulnerable people. They deserve your attention."

Preceding this work, Tebow's time competing with multiple NFL teams — the Broncos (2010–11), the Jets (2012), the Patriots (2013), the Eagles (2015), and the Jaguars (2021) — showed him his love for sports and challenges. When asked about the highs and lows of this career, he encouraged students to be resilient.

"You're going to have moments in your life that you think are setbacks, and I would challenge you to reframe your mind," Tebow said. "Maybe it's not a setback. Maybe it's your greatest setup. How many games in your life have you lost in the second half because your mindset was just the wrong one at halftime?"

Tebow emphasized the influence of his mindset on his personal life, up to the present. In his work with the Tim Tebow Foundation, he partners with his wife, Demi-Leigh Tebow, who shares his sense of purpose.

"In my life, it's so important to be in the best shape possible. And that's not just physically, but mentally, spiritually, and emotionally, too. I want to train in all of those areas," Tebow said. "My career started with a game, but it will end with the most vulnerable people."

The event was sponsored by Colgate University Church thanks to a generous donation by an anonymous donor in partnership with the Budget Allocation Committee of the Student Government Association.
